Job IntroductionWe're recruiting a Children's Transport Compliance Officer to join our Education Sufficiency and Access service.
Our team helps ensure that children and young people who are entitled to transport can travel safely and reliably to and from their place of education.
In this rewarding role, you'll help monitor and support transport services commissioned by Milton Keynes City Council, working closely with transport providers, schools, parents and carers, and colleagues across the organisation to ensure services are safe, compliant and meet the needs of children and families.
You'll play an important part in helping us provide high quality transport arrangements that support children and young people to access education and achieve positive outcomes.
This is a term-time only role.
With an additional 15 days worked during school holidays as required to support service delivery and operational requirements.
This role may be suitable for home working
, following an assessment. Home-based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.

- Monitor commissioned children's transport services to ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.
- Build positive working relationships with transport providers, schools, parents and carers, and internal colleagues to support effective service delivery and resolve issues.
- Maintain transport systems and records, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and supports effective service planning.
- Administer school badge processes and ensure safeguarding and Disclosure and Barring Service requirements are completed and recorded appropriately.
- Carry out visits, checks and audits, gathering information and supporting compliance activity across commissioned transport services.
- Review operator and supplier documentation to ensure legal, regulatory and contractual requirements are met and high standards are maintained.
- Able to plan, prioritise and coordinate a varied workload while meeting deadlines and service objectives.
