Mental Health Social Worker (Adult Services) - Tameside Council
Are you a dedicated social worker looking to make a meaningful impact? Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking passionate Mental Health Social Workers to join our Adult Services Community Mental Health Teams at Wilshaw House. In this role, you will work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to adults navigating mental health challenges.
What we offer- Competitive Salary:
Grade H+ (SCP 31-34: £41,771 to £45,091 per annum, depending on experience). - AMHP Support:
Qualified and Warranted AMHPs on the rota earn an additional £82 per shift (averaging 25-30 shifts per year). Training opportunities available for non-AMHP staff. - Work-Life Balance: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00/16:00) with occasional Saturday cover on a rota.
- Hybrid Flexibility:
Includes one working-from-home day per week subject to managerial agreement. - Generous Leave: 28 days annually (rising to 31 days after 10 years of service), plus statutory bank holidays.
- Professional Growth:
Access to joint training with Pennine Care Mental Health Service, regular peer supervision, and structured development pathways.
- Conduct comprehensive Care Act and risk assessments to formulate tailored support plans.
- Manage complex legal processes, including Mental Capacity Act assessments, DoLS, and Court of Protection matters.
- Coordinate funding applications for care packages and placements.
- Engage effectively with service users who are hard to reach and support their family networks.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for young people entering adult mental health services.
- Provide rapid responses to urgent mental health needs via the team duty rota.
- Collaborate across multi-disciplinary health and social care teams for holistic patient care.
- Mentor junior colleagues, support workers, and students to foster team growth.
- A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DIPSW, or CQSW).
- Must be currently registered with Social Work England.
- Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in adult mental health services.
- Full UK driving licence.
