About the role:Do you want to join a busy organisation and multifaceted housing services team dedicated to helping those in housing need.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience of working in the housing sector, especially with the knowledge of homelessness, you will provide a comprehensive homelessness advice and prevention service, helping vulnerable households understand their housing options and access suitable accommodation.
You will assess housing applications, determine statutory homelessness duties and work closely with partners to help households secure sustainable housing solutions.
You will be the first point of contact for our customers and provide the initial advice and guidance on a range of housing related matters, provide a housing options service focusing on prevention for those presenting as homeless or threatened with homelessness, fulfilling the councils housing and immigration obligations; including where the council does not owe a full homeless duty, or where referrals to supported housing may be appropriate.
Support those in time of crisis arranging safe placements into emergency accommodation or negotiate with landlords to help prevent homelessness.
We are currently operating a hybrid model of office and remote working.
What we need from you:You should be able to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the housing and homeless legislation and have the drive to provide a pro-active approach to housing and the prevention and relief of homelessness, but we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the key transferable skills, experiences and behavioural attributes set out in the job profile to deliver the requirements of the role.
You'll be confident in undertaking case work with vulnerable clients, working with partner agencies and providing clear advice and support to individuals with a range of needs.
Experience of delivering good customer service, coping well under pressure and dealing with difficult situations.
What is important is that you are enthusiastic, have an ability to show empathy, and passionate about improving outcomes for the customer.
