About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Child Welfare Officer to join their remote team, serving the community of Durban . This role is vital in ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children within the region. You will work remotely, providing essential case management, support, and advocacy for children and their families, connecting them with crucial social services and resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of child welfare concerns, including risk assessments and family dynamics, remotely via video conferencing and phone.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans for children and families in need of support.
  • Provide counseling and psycho-social support to children and caregivers, fostering healthy development and family functioning.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate services, such as early childhood development programs, counseling, and legal aid.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and progress reports in the organization's digital system.
  • Collaborate with virtual teams, schools, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive child protection measures.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., SACSSP).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in child welfare, child protection, or a similar social service role.
  • Demonstrated experience in remote case management and virtual client engagement.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in using digital collaboration tools.
