About the Role

Telford and Wrekin Council is looking to recruit an experienced Advanced / Senior Practitioner to join its Duty and Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled children's social care professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families at the earliest opportunity.

Rate: £33.30 per hour Umbrella

Hours:

37 hours per week
Working Arrangement:
Hybrid working. There is an expectation of a combination of office-based and home working, as agreed with the Team Manager.
Contract Length:
Initial 3-month contract with potential extension.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a diverse caseload, undertaking timely assessments, care planning, and interventions for children and families.
Respond to referrals and safeguarding concerns, assessing risk and making evidence-based decisions.
Complete Child and Family Assessments and contribute to child protection processes and legal proceedings where required.
Build effective relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners to support assessment and planning.
Apply relevant legislation, policies, and best practice to deliver high-quality, child-centred services.
Use professional judgement to identify appropriate interventions, review progress, and adapt plans where necessary.
Undertake preventative work with families to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children.
Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation.
Contribute to reflective practice, effective multi-agency working, and continuous service improvement.

About You

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

Experience with in a Duty and Assessment, Referral and Assessment, Front Door, or Children's Safeguarding service.
Strong experience completing Child and Family Assessments, risk assessments, and safeguarding investigations.
Ability to manage complex caseloads, exercise sound professional judgement, and make confident decisions in high-pressure situations.
Commitment to Continuous Professional Development and maintaining high standards of practice.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. A DBS check may be applicable for this role. Applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
