Roles are either ‘site based’ or ‘home based’.
Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs.
Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week.
The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.
Job IntroductionWe’re recruiting a part-time and full-time Family Help Practitioner to join our Children’s Services team at Milton Keynes City Council.
You’ll be based in a Family Help Hub, working directly with children and families who need support. This is a rewarding, front-line role where you’ll build strong relationships, act as a consistent point of contact, and help families make positive and lasting changes.

In this role, you’ll support families with medium to high levels of need, helping to identify challenges early and putting plans in place to improve outcomes for children.
Site-Based role
This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

- Work within a multi-disciplinary Family Help Hub to build trusted relationships with families
- Carry out assessments to understand the needs and risks for children and families
- Develop and deliver tailored support and intervention plans
- Manage a caseload of families with medium to high levels of need
- Maintain accurate records and produce clear, high-quality reports
- Work closely with partner agencies to deliver joined-up support
- Deliver parenting programmes to support confidence and behaviour management
