Information Services Development Worker

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to develop and deliver a range of information services and initiatives to increase financial security and community resilience, including supporting those in financial crisis to access specialist advice and support.

As part of a newly-funded programme, you will engage with local communities, partners and stakeholders to identify and develop new audiences and opportunities to ensure the library is developed as a local information hub at the heart the community. You will plan and deliver information and advice days across libraries, support and train library staff to signpost to relevant services, and work with internal and external partners including Inspire Learning and Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities’ team.

You will develop, collect and map information resources to support community resilience and reduce barriers to accessing information and support.

You will have a qualification in librarianship/information science/community development and knowledge of identifying, engaging with and developing audience groups. You will have experience of planning and delivering projects, events and activities within relevant sectors, and working in partnership to deliver services. You must be happy to work under your own initiative, with flexibility, and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Working 37 hours per week, which may include occasional evening and weekend working, the postholders will have a library base (decided by mutual agreement), with home working supported. The post involves countywide travel to libraries and community venues across Nottinghamshire.

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver information and advice days and surgeries across the library network
• Support and train local library staff to offer a ‘front door’ to relevant services to those in financial crisis
• Support and train local library staff to support clients to access relevant online forms, including form filling and ICT support where required.
• To engage with designated communities and other stakeholders, coordinating local activities as needed to provide information and advice drop ins on a regular basis.
