Social Work Housing Advisor Northamptonshire

Opus People Solutions are hiring for a Housing Options Advisor within a Local Authority client based in Kettering, Northamptonshire.

The role is 37 hours per week, offering hybrid working (4 days on-site per week and 1 day working from home), and £30.00 per hour Umbrella (£23.50 PAYE).Please see a high-level overview of what the position involves below:
* Conducting initial homelessness assessments and housing needs triage for customers at risk of homelessness.
* Assessing eligibility, homelessness status, priority need, and determining whether statutory duties, including Section 188 interim accommodation duties, are owed.
* Working proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness through early intervention, advice, advocacy, negotiation, and support.
* Completing Full Housing Assessments (FHAs) and developing Personal Housing Plans (PHPs).
* Managing a varied caseload and ensuring decisions comply with homelessness legislation, statutory guidance, and case law.
* Liaising with landlords, support agencies, internal services, and external partners to secure positive housing outcomes.
* Identifying safeguarding concerns and taking appropriate action to support vulnerable adults, children, and families.
* Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to service improvements and performance monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have experience with:
* Delivering homelessness prevention, housing advice, or housing options services.
* Assessing homelessness applications and applying homelessness legislation in practice.
* Managing complex caseloads within a customer-focused environment.
* Working with vulnerable individuals and families facing housing difficulties.
* Negotiating with landlords and partner agencies to prevent homelessness and secure accommodation.
* Producing high-quality assessments, case notes, and written reports.
* Previous experience within Local Government.
