Role Overview

The Crisis Worker provides emotional support and crisis intervention services to individuals and families via text and online chat. This role focuses on active listening, risk assessment, and connecting individuals to appropriate resources while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.

This position is ideal for candidates with a background in counseling, behavioral health, or social service case management who are passionate about supporting individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to crisis contacts via phone, text, and chat using empathetic, non-judgmental communication
  • Assess safety, risk level, and emotional needs following established protocols
  • Provide referrals and connect individuals to appropriate community resources
  • Engage emergency services when required based on assessment and policy guidance
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions
  • Participate in required training, supervision, and ongoing education
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in social services-related field
  • Background in counseling, behavioral health, or social service case management
  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
  • High level of empathy and emotional resilience
  • Basic computer proficiency and typing skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy standards

Training & Schedule

  • Training Schedule (4 weeks): Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM EST (Paid)
  • Post-Training Schedule: 16 hours/ week, 7pm-3:30am EST or 11am-7:30pm EST
  • Schedules after training will most likely include weekend shifts, in some cases Sat & Sun

Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm

Technology & Workspace Requirements

  • Laptop or desktop computer (tablets not permitted)
  • Hard-wired internet connection with minimum 50 Mbps speed
  • Private, quiet home office environment
