Job DescriptionAs a senior representative of the Hindu faith, the successful candidate will report directly to the Chaplain General and Head of Faith Services, providing crucial prison and probation-related advice. This involves offering considered and informed guidance within a prison context for both staff and individuals in custody, and supporting the successful reintegration of offenders into the community.
Key duties include collaborating with Probation Service colleagues to ensure offenders lead law-abiding lives, thereby reducing future crime. The role also entails developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment and retention of Hindu chaplains, ensuring the faith and belief system's needs are met, and fostering strong relations with relevant Hindu organisations.
Requirements- To be in good standing with the Hindu faith community or belief system and endorsed either as an existing Chaplain, or by another senior figure within their respective faith/belief organisation.
- Demonstrable knowledge or formal qualification in the Hindu faith or belief system.
- Track record of working successfully in a multi-faith context and commitment to pastoral care for people of all faiths, beliefs, and none.
- Excellent people management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- This role is open to foreign nationals requiring a UK work visa, as sponsorship is available. Applicants must meet all UK visa eligibility criteria.
