In this new role, you will work as part of a team acting as the 'single point of contact' primarily for Birmingham's special schools in relation to pupil attendance. You will meet regularly with allocated schools and, using attendance data, will agree targeted actions and access to services for children with poor attendance.
If you have a strong background in schools, education or family support, a commitment to safeguarding and a keen interest in supporting special schools, we want to hear from you! As a Managing Attendance Coordinator, you will;
- build positive relationships and work with the senior attendance champions in schools
- provide advice on school attendance policy, multi-agency support and contribute to school attendance action plans with the child at the centre of any intervention
- provide high quality advice, signposting and supportive challenge to schools in relation to cases of poor attendance including how to share concerns with other agencies and the application of safeguarding thresholds related to pupil absence
- act as lead professional, by facilitating and contributing to multi agency meetings as appropriate where children are severely absent
- disseminate national school attendance best practice and support attendance working groups/forums to ensure attendance procedures are appropriate
Your efforts will help foster good multi agency relationships and achieve positive educational outcomes for children in our community. In return, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment where your contributions will be valued. You will have the opportunity to participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and professional development activities. We are committed to your growth and will provide training to enhance your knowledge of home education and safeguarding practices.
By joining our team, you will be making a meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families in Birmingham.
We are looking for candidates with a high standard of education, with evidence of continued professional development. You should have at least two years casework experience in schools, youth services, social care or LA attendance services. Experience of working within statutory timescales and offering timely advice, support and guidance are essential. You should have experience of extensive computerised systems and in particular word-processing packages, databases and spreadsheets and experience of producing statistical reports.
You should be able to work independently within clear guidelines but also have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
