Design and Implement Scalable Backend Solutions
- Develop high-quality, scalable backend components aligned with clean architecture principles and modern Java practices.
Contribute to Full Software Development Lifecycle
- Participate in all phases of software delivery, from design and coding to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Refactor and Modernize Existing Systems
- Continuously improve legacy codebases by refactoring them into maintainable, modular, and efficient solutions
Maintain and Enhance Informatics Products
- Ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of Animal Informatics applications through proactive maintenance and optimization.
Develop Infrastructure and Pipelines as Code
- Design and manage infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines using automation tools to streamline deployment and operations.
Collaborate in Agile, Cross-Functional Teams
- Actively contribute to an agile environment, engaging in sprint planning, code reviews, and daily stand-ups.
Troubleshoot and Resolve System Issues
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application defects and production issues efficiently and systematically.
Ensure Code Quality and Best Practices
- Follow software engineering standards, perform peer reviews, and ensure consistent implementation of clean code principles.
Keep Technology Stack Up to Date
- Monitor, evaluate, and integrate modern frameworks, libraries, and tools to maintain a cutting-edge technology base.
Document Technical Solutions and Architecture
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate with Product and Business Stakeholders
- Engage with Product Owners and end users to understand requirements and deliver features that provide tangible business value.
Coordinate effectively with international teams, including regular collaboration with stakeholders in PST time zones.
Drive Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Proactively propose enhancements to architecture, processes, and workflows to improve overall system quality and team efficiency.

Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in backend software engineering, with proven ability to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale systems.
Advanced Java Proficiency
- Strong expertise in Java, including JDK 17+, with deep knowledge of object-oriented design, concurrency, and modern Java language features for high-performance applications.
Framework and API Skills
- Proficient in Spring Boot and related frameworks, capable of designing and developing RESTful services following OpenAPI specifications and ensuring consistency and scalability.
Database Expertise
- Practical experience with relational and search-oriented databases, particularly Postgre
  
  SQL and Open Search, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Domain-Driven Design Knowledge
- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to structure complex business domains and maintain a clear separation of concerns in modular applications.
Microservices and Modular Architecture
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining microservices or modular service architectures that are scalable, maintainable, and loosely coupled.
CI/CD and Dev Ops Tools
- Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops tools, including containerization and orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD, to streamline deployments and operational efficiency.
Testing and Code Quality Practices
- Strong understanding of testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, alongside strict adherence to clean code practices and daily peer code reviews.
Practical exposure to event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging systems, particularly Apache Kafka, to enable reliable communication across distributed services.
End-to-End Ownership Mindset
- Demonstrated ability to independently take full ownership of features from technical design, coding, and testing to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
Proactive Problem-Solving Approach
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and balance technical and business priorities effectively.
Fluent English, both written and spoken, capable of communicating complex technical concepts clearly to international stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
