Position: QA Automation Engineer – Preferred Travel Group
General SummaryThe QA Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated test systems and processes. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers to create efficient solutions, writing and testing automation scripts, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth operation of automated systems. Automation Engineers typically work with various tools and technologies to optimize workflows and enhance productivity within the organization. This position requires a solid foundation in programming, problem‑solving skills, and a keen interest in staying updated on industry trends and advancements in automation technologies.
OrganizationalRelationship
The QA Automation Engineer reports to the Software Quality Assurance Manager. The role works closely with software developers and other members of the development team to understand project requirements, contribute to test plans and test cases, execute testing processes, identify defects, and participate in issue resolution. Communication with stakeholders ensures delivery of high‑quality software products.
Duties & Responsibilities- Software testing experience
- Create, maintain, and enhance Selenium‑based automation frameworks and test suites that effectively cover a wide range of testing scenarios
- Craft well‑structured browser‑based Selenium tests using Java or Python, adhering to established design patterns
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues in the automation suite
- Perform regression testing to ensure stability of new releases
- Collaborate with the QA team to ensure features are thoroughly tested and integrated seamlessly
- Identify regression tests for future scenarios
- Create reusable, automated tests
- Provide training to peers on test automation
- Stay current on new testing tools and capabilities, analyze effectiveness, and suggest implementation
- Detail‑oriented with deep understanding of project requirements
- Strong team player, effective with diverse backgrounds and organization areas
- Innovative approach to problem solving
- Good understanding of testing methodologies and best practices
- Experience writing automated tests using Java, Selenium, or IntelliJ
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using cloud‑based platforms such as Browser Stack for cross‑browser testing
- Knowledgeable in Agile techniques and comfortable working within a Scrum framework
This role follows a hybrid working model with a base in one of Preferred Travel Group’s office locations (Chicago, IL; Newport Beach, CA; New York, NY; Washington DC). Employees are generally expected to work from the office 2–3 days per week, balancing in‑person collaboration and flexible remote work. Remote options may be considered for candidates located outside the primary office areas. Employees are seated most of the time.
