Full Stack Developer, Cloud Engineer - Software
Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our Digital Product Engineering team. As a key member of our dynamic and collaborative team, you will help design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications to enhance both internal systems and external platforms for policyholders and brokers. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering with expertise in full-stack development, cloud computing, and AI/ML solutions, particularly in production environments.

This Digital Platforms Team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing internal underwriting and claims platforms, as well as a portal for policyholders and brokers. We are embarking on an exciting new phase where we integrate AI technologies to drive efficiencies, starting with new business submissions in early 2025.
Location- Must be located near Edina, MN or Raleigh, NC
- Hybrid (once a month onsite)
6-12 month contract to hire
Pay Rate$40-$70/hr
Key Responsibilities- Full-Stack Development:
Design, develop, and implement features across both the front-end and back-end of the application stack, utilizing modern programming languages and frameworks. - AI Integration:
Collaborate on the integration of AI technologies into business applications, starting with new business submissions in early 2025, to enhance underwriting workflows and business processes. - Cloud Computing:
Manage and deploy cloud-native applications using platforms like AWS, ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure solutions. - Dev Ops and CI/CD Practices:
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows. - Code Quality & Testing:
Write clean, well-documented code with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and performance. Implement unit, integration, and automated testing to ensure high-quality releases. - Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, QA engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver user-focused solutions. - Problem Solving:
Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical challenges, proposing efficient and effective solutions. - Learning & Growth:
Stay current with industry trends and technologies, actively sharing knowledge and best practices with the team to drive continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Full-Stack Development:
Strong experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React for front-end development, as well as Node.js for back-end development. - Cloud Technologies:
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms like AWS (preferred), Azure, GCP. - AI/ML
Experience:
Practical experience implementing AI/ML technologies in a production environment to drive business efficiencies. - Database Technologies:
Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, Postgre
SQL) and non-relational databases (Mongo
DB, Dynamo
DB). - API Integration:
Expertise in building and consuming RESTful and Graph
QL APIs. - Testing Methodologies:
Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests with modern testing frameworks. - Dev Ops Practices:
Familiarity with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment. - Communication
Skills:
Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in a Software Engineer role, with demonstrated experience in full-stack development and working on cloud-native applications.
- Experience with Amazon Cloud Watch RUM or similar logging frameworks.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industries is a plus, but not required.
