Java Engineer II (Remote)
First Citizens Bank is looking for a Java Engineer II to work remotely. Eligible candidates must be located in AZ, FL, GA, NC or TX.
OverviewAs a Software Developer II, you will collaborate with Product Managers, Analysts, Testers and cross‑functional global teams in a fast‑paced environment. You will design and develop scalable, efficient software tools that support our client‑facing Online Banking application and new client onboarding system. You will provide ongoing support for the systems you develop.
Responsibilities- Design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs in terms of functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead module‑level development (architecture, design, development) for medium to large‑sized projects and maintenance of client‑facing API banking systems.
- Contribute to and drive department best practices, guidelines, and standards.
- Build, maintain, and test large software platforms.
- Create an excellent developer experience and advocate for developers.
- Write elegant, maintainable, well‑documented, secure code.
- Apply abstraction, refactoring, and testing practices passionately.
- Continuously learn and go above and beyond expectations.
- Support the team and foster constructive collaboration.
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of application software programming experience; or High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience.
- 4+ years of hands‑on experience with back‑end development.
- Module‑level lead experience on small to medium projects.
- Ability to influence architecture and design.
- Expertise in microservices architecture, SOA, Spring Boot, etc.
- Hands‑on experience with SOAP, REST web services.
- Experience with CI/CD.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, J2EE, JMS, JDBC, web development, transactions, Web Services, JVM, JNDI, JMX, JTA.
- Knowledge of MQs, Kafka, Elasticsearch.
Implementation of software design patterns and best practices for J2EE. - Experience with SSO and security protocols such as SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0.
- Knowledge of Oracle or MS SQL Server.
- Experience in regulated financial organization is a plus.
- Experience with TDD and Agile methodologies is a plus.
