Technical Manager, Software Engineering

As a CoStar Technical Manager on the Platform Development team you will play a key role in expanding the data platform that supports all of CoStar Group’s largest brands including , CoStar Suite, Loop Net and  You will deeply understand what drives the business for which you are building software. We firmly believe that what separates a good developer from a great one is a deep understanding of the business that they are supporting.

This position is located in Arlington, VA and is in office Monday through Thursday and work from home on Friday.

• Lead an Agile software development team (approximately 5-7 people);
  Lead Scrum ceremonies;
  Deliver done-done features to customers at high velocity
• Act as a player-coach, who can mentor & coach team members into highly productive team players
• Promotion of a can-do attitude, engineering mindset and collaboration as fundamental team values
• Influence API architecture and CI/CD pipeline improvements
• Drive continuous improvement by focusing on engineering excellence
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements, develop project plans and work schedules for use by scrum development team
• Successfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelines
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Agile teams to develop a roadmap and deliver on large initiatives
• Work with the recruiting team to hire and onboard top industry talent
• Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar’s business model
• Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices
• Adopt an owner-operator mindset and demonstrate full ownership of the product and technical platforms
• Act as the "Voice of the Customer" when participating in product readiness reviews

• Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college
• A track record of commitment to prior employers
• 7+ years of relevant development experience
• 3+ years’ experience in modern web and database technologies
• 3+ years’ experience building large distributed, API-driven systems
• 2+ years of experience leading Agile Team(s)
• Demonstrated expert knowledge of Object Oriented Programming and design patterns
• Solid experience with the following technologies; C#, .NET Core, and SQL Server
• Experience leading technical teams, working through complex requirements and offering relevant, timely technical solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience (direct reports, peers and senior management)
• Excellent team building, negotiation and consensus building abilities

• Cloud Development experience (AWS is preferred)
• Experience with No

• Experience with relational databases (MS SQL Server is preferred)
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration
• Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus
