Team and Role

As a Full Stack Engineer on the Core Scribd team, you’ll contribute to building and maintaining both the frontend and backend systems powering Scribd’s document‑reading page. You’ll work on full‑stack features that help users on a research journey find and parse the right document. This unique opportunity spans React‑based UI to distributed backend services in collaboration with product, design, AI/ML, and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Design and PM on new frontend features using React/Next.js, Graph
  
  QL, Type Script, and Ruby on Rails.
• Contribute to a shared design system.
• Improve our frontend infrastructure.
• Maintain and enhance our backend in‑document search service and spin up new services as needed in Python.
• Collaborate with Data/ML and Content Pipeline teams to build new features and improve document ingestion infrastructure.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
• 3‑5 years of experience working across the stack, especially React, Next.js, and Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with database technologies (SQL, Postgre
  
  SQL, and MySQL).
• Understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and SEO principles across the stack.
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with design, product, and other engineering teams.
• A thoughtful approach to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.

Bonus (Optional)

• Experience with Node and Go services.

Compensation

Base pay ranges vary by location:

• San Francisco, CA: $119,000 – $185,500.
• Other U.S. locations: $98,000 – $176,500.
• Canada: $124,500 CAD – $165,000 CAD.
