Flex is hiring Staff Software Engineers, Backend across Consumer, Partner Integrations, and Core Platform teams. The role shapes long‑term architecture while remaining hands‑on, collaborating across engineering, product, design, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable systems.

• Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs for consumer, partner, and core platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on system architecture, long‑term vision, and team best practices.
• Lead the delivery of highly impactful products end‑to‑end, from requirements to rollout, with high quality and timeliness.
• Translate product and design requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Build fault‑tolerant systems with complex external dependencies in distributed environments.
• Drive adoption of best practices across engineering, including testing, observability, automation, and CI/CD.
• Mentor and support engineers, raising the technical bar.
• Operate services in production with high availability, leveraging monitoring tools.
• Contribute to the evolution of Flex’s service‑oriented architecture: REST APIs, message queues, and scalable system design.
• Balance hands‑on execution with architectural decisions, ensuring velocity and maintainability.

• 6–8+ years of professional software engineering experience, focusing on backend development.
• 4+ years of hands‑on Java experience (Spring core/web/boot, Gradle, JUnit, JVM tuning & performance).
• Strong fundamentals in scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience leading delivery of multiple high‑impact projects end‑to‑end.
• Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to write high‑quality, testable, secure code.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS (EKS, Aurora RDS, Elasti Cache, Dynamo
  
  DB), Docker/Kubernetes, relational and No
  
  SQL databases.
• Proficient with CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions preferred), git, and build automation.
• Familiar with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Data Dog).
• Track record of mentoring engineers and raising standards.
• Bonus:
  Fin Tech experience, major payment rails, big‑data platforms, IaC (CDK/Terraform).

Compensation

Base salary ranges (USD):

• NY/NJ/CA: $221,000‑$262,000
• All other states: $199,000‑$236,000

The compensation range will be commensurate with experience and Flex’s internal benchmarks.
