Software Engineer, Remote

Our client, based out of Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a contract opportunity.
This position is REMOTE and candidates must be willing to work on Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Description

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to important healthcare projects such as Java-based web applications for public health, clinical decision support tools, EHR integration, and mobile applications. You’ll work in an Agile environment alongside a team of Software Developers, Business Analysts, and Public Health Analysts.

This position will focus on revamping a public health disease surveillance system, with an anticipated end date of December 2022.

Responsibilities

• Develop systems meeting technical and business requirements with a team of engineers and analysts.
• Design scalable software solutions to enhance functionality and system longevity.
• Communicate effectively with business leaders.
• Develop prototypes of new concepts and technologies.
• Follow software development methodologies, standards, test-driven development, data analysis, and reporting.
• Maintain current production code while learning new technologies quickly.
• Share ideas and evaluate new data processing techniques to meet project needs and deadlines.

Required

• BSc in computer science; 3+ years experience with Java/J2EE applications, strong OOP knowledge, and experience with multiple databases.
• Strong Java fundamentals, experience with Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, JSON, XML.
• Experience with Microservice architectures, SOA, and design patterns.
• Experience developing REST/SOAP web services.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like VUE, React, Angular2 for backend communication.
• Experience with SDLC tools:
  Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/Team City, Open Shift, Gradle.
• Prefer experience with HL7, QRDA III, FHIR, or custom document processing.
• Enjoy working in a dynamic, flexible team with solid software development skills.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, quick learner, with a broad software development background and interest in growth.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

Desired

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
• Mobile development experience.
• MIRTH or SOLR experience.
• Tableau or Power BI experience.
