Sr. Director, Software Engineering - Capital One Software (Remote)

COS aims to accelerate the data management journey for businesses operating in the cloud and will continue to bring solutions to market that address data publishing, data consumption, data governance, and infrastructure management needs.

We are seeking top-tier talent to join a pioneering team of product, tech, and design leaders. As a Capital One (insert title), you’ll be at the forefront of building and bringing tools to market.

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Collaborate across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development toolset
• Lead craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
• Stay current on tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other engineers
• Encourage innovation, inclusion, outside-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Improve velocity across teams
• Lead efforts to deploy applications into AWS environments
• Break monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 9 years of software development experience
• At least 7 years of people management experience

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• 13+ years of software development experience
• 8+ years of experience in Agile practices
• 2+ years of experience developing agentic AI systems including orchestration, tool integration and decision making workflows
• 2+ years of experience supporting Agentic Frameworks (Lang Chain, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel (Microsoft), or Auto Gen)
• 5+ years of experience leading teams building B2B SaaS solutions

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked.

Remote (Regardless of Location): $280,600 - $320,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering;
Richmond, VA: $280,600 - $320,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering. Location-based pay ranges apply, and the actual offer will be documented in the offer letter.

This role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives, depending on the plan.
