Mid Level Software Engineer; On-Site

Shyft Solutions is looking to hire a mid-level full-stack Java developer to support one of our government projects. The mission of this software application is to support DoD decision making by providing situational awareness in time‑sensitive situations. The team will provide the government usable, incremental software deliveries using Agile software development to operationalize the current application prototype. Throughout the development lifecycle, developers will employ innovative user experience design principles, complex multi‑mission data integration, and geospatial data fusion.

This position requires on‑site work at our customer's facility in Bellevue, Nebraska; therefore remote work is limited.

• Education:
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 6 years of software development experience
  • Bachelor’s in science in a STEM field with a minimum of 2 years of software development experience
  • Master’s in science in a STEM field with zero years of experience
• Java programming
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with small technical teams
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops  principles and practices
• Experience working in Agile software development environments
• Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results
• Ability to obtain and maintain on‑site work access in Bellevue, NE
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance and be a United States citizen

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code – container management platforms (RKE2, AWS, Open Shift, etc.), automation technologies (Ansible, Helm, etc.), virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox, etc.)
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops  – implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating security hardening, enabling operations through Infrastructure as Code, creating solutions that encourage Dev‑Prod parity
• Experience with microservices patterns and containerized environments
• Experience with object‑oriented programming, web development frameworks, and full‑stack application architectures
• Demonstrated use of configuration management tools (Git, Bitbucket, Mercurial, Ansible Galaxy)
• Demonstrated use of collaboration tool suites (Atlassian, Git Lab)
• Current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (preferred)
