This role will be working on our Poe product.

About the Team and Role: We are seeking a talented, self‑starter staff software engineer to contribute core product features to Poe, a platform for making the power of state‑of‑the‑art AI accessible to all people. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to build cutting‑edge features from scratch that serve millions of people daily.

The Core Product team is an iterative, fast‑moving team responsible for Poe’s core messaging and bot discovery experiences. Recent launches include:

• A multi‑bot chat feature that allows users to compare answers from recommended bots with a single click and bring any bot into the conversation by @‑mentioning it.
• A Canvas App feature that enables users to generate interactive websites within Poe and publish them as new apps for users outside Poe.

As a senior, full‑stack member, you will plan, develop, and polish new features that improve interaction with generative AI models and the bot ecosystem, taking shared ownership of the cross‑functional product development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, data scientists, QA, and other engineers to implement intuitive, interactive AI‑powered user experiences on Poe.
• Lead a group of engineers to drive a project from start to finish.
• Iterate quickly on projects, from ideation to implementation and launch, using the full web technology stack.
• Champion both user experience and sustainable, scalable code practices.
• Represent engineering in strategic planning and cross‑functional prioritization sessions.
• Coach top technical talent to help establish and grow the team and mentor new hires.

Minimum Requirements

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora’s “coordination hours” (Mon‑Fri: 9am‑3pm Pacific Time).
• 6+ years of full‑time professional full‑stack experience building user‑facing consumer web products (excluding internships).
• 5+ years of professional experience with React, Type Script, and Graph

• 5+ years experience in Python or a similar programming language.
• Professional experience leveraging backend storage systems such as MySQL, MyRocks, Memcached, or Redis.
