Software Engineer II - Full Stack (Remote)

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Software Engineer II Full Stack to work remotely.

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): AZ, FL, GA, NC, and TX.

As Software Developer II, you will work with Product Managers, Analysts, Testers and cross‑functional global teams in a fast‑paced environment. You will design and develop scalable and efficient software tools that support client‑facing online banking applications. This role requires working closely with cross‑functional teams and across organizations to define & implement solutions for existing and new client onboarding applications, and providing ongoing support to the systems developed.

• Design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Provide module level development leadership (architecture, design, development) for medium to large sized projects and maintenance on client‑facing API banking systems.
• Contribute to and drive department best practices, guidelines implementation and adherence to standards.
• Build and maintain large software platforms.
• Create a superlative developer experience.
• Write elegant, maintainable, well‑documented, secure code.
• Abstract, refactor and test solutions with passion.
• Continuously learn and go above and beyond the call of duty.

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in application software programming OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in application software programming.

• 4+ years of full‑stack development.
• Module level lead experience on small to medium sized projects.
• Understanding and influencing architecture and design.
• Expertise in microservices architecture, SOA, Spring Boot, etc.
• Hands‑on experience in web services development (SOAP, REST).
• Experience with CI/CD.
• Development expertise in React, Node.js, JAVA, Spring Boot, J2EE & related technologies.
• Knowledge of MQs and Kafka.
• Implementation of software design patterns and best practices applicable to J2EE.
• Experience with SSO and security protocols like SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0.
• Knowledge of RDBMSs (Oracle or MS SQL Server).
• Prior experience with regulated financial organization is a plus.
• Test‑Driven Development and Agile experience in both co‑located and distributed teams is a plus.
