Position Summary: The Senior Software Engineer is a full-stack developer and coach that is an expert at working in all layers of the application stack and guiding a team of developers. This position works in an Agile development environment as a master hands-on developer; architecting, designing, and delivering technology solutions. The Senior Software Engineer is the primary practitioner-coach on a team and helps build the development capability of a team while guiding the technical direction.

This position is an in-person, onsite position if local to South Bend, otherwise could be a remote position. Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a master developer, technologist, and coach with a desire to develop products that positively impact lives
• Participate in all stages of product design and development, from development of the MVP through architecting and building a scalable production system
• Solve relevant problems through technology
• Provide significant hands-on experience across the entire technology stack
• Build and work on high performing teams, collaborate with team members and maintain a record of improving your team’s ability to deliver
• Maintain experience in practices like TDD or ATDD
• Create robust, scalable applications
• Solve challenging technical problems
• Co-locate with the development team
• Preferred but not required

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
• 10+ years as a Developer
• Experience with cloud service providers e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud
• Experience in the Docker toolchain:
  Docker for Windows, Docker Compose, Docker Machine, Kubernetes
• Experience with programmatic provisioning systems e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef
• Experience with RESTful web services
• Experience with client-side web development
• Java experience highly preferred
• JavaScript experience highly preferred

Other:

• Willing and ready to exemplify HHIT’s core values on a daily basis
• Responsible for protecting data entrusted to HHIT by customers or other parties which is demonstrated through strict adherence to HHIT’s data security and privacy policies and procedures
• Speaking and writing English is a requirement for this position

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
