onX seeks a talented Growth Android Engineer to help the Growth Domain design, build, and run experiments in the context of user onboarding, purchasing, and activating users in our products. You’ll learn how to use data and user behavior analysis to drive decision making to increase the win rate and size of experiments which impact our quarterly metrics. In this role, you will focus on experiments related to all accepts of subscription purchasing like testing different offer types and purchase screen user interfaces.

(Essential Job Duties)

• Develop new user-facing experiments in our Android app using Kotlin
• Write quality code, tests and review pull requests promptly
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key growth opportunities using data analysis and user behavior design
• Learn when to optimize for speed vs. quality to increase experiment velocity
• Maintain 3rd party library integrations
• Lead by example - embody our company values

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Connection Hub”.

• Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.
• Basecamps:
  Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
  • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following:
    Austin, TX;
    Charlotte, NC;
    Denver, CO;
    Kalispell, MT;
    Minneapolis, MN;
    Portland, OR;
    Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
• Connection Hubs:
  Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
  • Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following:
    Boise, ;
    Charleston, SC;
    Dallas/Fort Worth, TX;
    Phoenix, AZ;
    Richmond, VA;
    Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

• Minimum of three (3) years of professional software development experience is required, where Android development was your professional focus for at least two (2) or more years.
• Experience with REST, Graphql, and/or gRPC
• Understanding of best practices and architectural patterns such as MVVM.
• Proficiency in GIT (particularly rebasing)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Curiosity around user behavior and data analysis to inform and improve experiment ideas
