Our client is a stealth spinout health tech company within one of the largest behavioral health providers in the country. The parent company has been servicing patients for over 30 years, with tens of thousands of patients across 50 states and thousands of therapists/clinicians.
The stealth startup is led by a co‑founding team of former venture capitalists and exited founders to leverage clinical knowledge and data assets to improve patient outcomes.
We’re looking for a 3D Game Artist to bring to life engaging, visually appealing assets for psychology‑based games that help children on the autism spectrum learn and grow. This is your chance to use your creativity for a meaningful purpose: crafting a world where learning feels like play.
As a 3D Game Artist, you’ll design everything from characters to interactive UI, tailoring your creations to support developmental needs of young learners. Collaboration is key—you’ll work hand‑in‑hand with developers to ensure your designs fit seamlessly into the gameplay experience.
By joining the team, you will be at the ground floor of an exciting startup:
- Working alongside experienced founders and clinicians to make an impact
- Work in a startup agility without the instability of a startup‑risk as we have strong financial backing from a large parent company and affiliated institutional investors with a long runway and strong path towards additional external financing.
- Design 3D game assets (characters, environments, and props) to support six planned mini‑games.
- Create child‑friendly, engaging UI elements that guide players and caregivers through the game experience.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure assets are optimized and integrated effectively into Unity.
- Develop expressive characters and animations for scenarios such as vocabulary‑matching games, tying shoes and other life‑skills visuals, and interactive communication prompts (e.g., “What is this?”).
- Ensure designs are visually appealing, intuitive, and aligned with the psychology‑based mission of the games.
- 3+ years of experience creating 3D assets for Unity‑based games.
- Proficiency with tools like Blender, Maya, or similar 3D modeling software.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX design for games, especially child‑focused interfaces.
- A portfolio showcasing your ability to create polished, interactive game assets.
- Experience collaborating with game developers to integrate assets into Unity‑based workflows.
- Adaptability and openness to feedback in a collaborative, iterative environment.
- Help design games that teach critical life skills to children with autism.
- Work on a mission‑driven team that values creativity and collaboration.
- Flexible remote work, with overlapping hours in California or East Coast time zones.
- See your designs come to life in games that make a measurable difference.
