Description We are looking for a thoughtful, collaborative Automated Test Engineer (SDET) to join our growing, distributed team engineers enjoy tackling complex problems while working with other members of our cross-disciplinary teams to deliver elegant products across a modern technology stack. They are skilled across the stack, building accessible applications that put people first with code that is clean, maintainable, well-documented, and well-tested.
Our Automated Test Engineers (SDETs) are specialists who work collaboratively and embed with multiple engineering teams, acting as advocates for best practices and helping to improve processes related to automated testing. While embedded with a team, they review code, write tests, and mentor the team on how to write reliable tests. You’ll work closely with researchers and designers early and often, collaborating to add perspective that increases understanding and empathy.

$117,420 to $146,290 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
- Tier 1 – $117,420:
Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role. - Tier 2 – $131,855:
Experienced and fully competent. Will be able to independently perform key responsibilities of the role once onboarding is completed. - Tier 3 – $146,290:
Highly experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.
This is a US-based remote position open to applicants in the states listed below. Some travel may be required.

- Write automated tests and review code, ensuring high standards of quality, maintainability, and test coverage
- Solve problems across the tech stack alongside other engineers on the team, building new systems and improving existing ones
- Identify and implement improvements in automated testing practices and processes
- Consistently apply best practices, including a focus on accessibility
- Collaborate with team members and government/client stakeholders to build and test technology products that improve the lives of those in the communities they serve
- Participate in quality improvement activities, including mapping contractual requirements to test cases to ensure coverage of necessary functionality
- Engage with coworkers across disciplines according to Agile and Scrum methodologies, including participating in planning, breaking down requirements into tasks, refinement and estimation, etc.
- Software testing best practices, including risk-based approaches, user-data driven testing, and the software testing pyramid
