The role is a remote position based in the EMEA and Americas regions. You will join the Observability team to develop a cloud‑native monitoring stack that combines best‑in‑class open‑source tools. The stack is opinionated, resilient, and scalable, and will enable deep, contextual insights across Kubernetes, Open Stack, bare‑metal, virtual machines, and containers.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
  • Write, test, and document high‑quality code to create new features.
  • Debug issues and interact with the vibrant open‑source community.
  • Review code produced by other engineers.
  • Attend conferences to represent Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack.
  • Work from home, with global travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Qualifications
  • Strong passion for technology and working with brilliant people.
  • Excellent soft skills; self‑motivated, thoughtful, and enterprising.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Skilled Python developer, preferably with a track record in open‑source projects.
  • Working knowledge of Go.
  • Experience or interest in at least two of the following:
    Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, Snap, or distributed systems.
