We are seeking a proven full‑stack web software developer to join a small yet experienced team at Terracon as a valued member. The position is full‑time, open for in‑house work in Austin, TX, or remote work within the continental United States.

Job Description

This developer will work on the Research team and support various software development efforts. The role requires writing new code of the highest quality, following established patterns, practices, and coding standards, as outlined by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) community.

General Responsibilities
  • Write new code that meets quality standards and follows established patterns and practices.
  • Create a geospatial application to manage, visualize, and analyze intelligent construction data.
  • Enhance and refactor existing code, gather requirements, and perform testing.
  • Analyze business requirements and provide recommendations for solutions.
  • Participate in company technology projects as needed.
Essential

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Minimum of 5 years of end‑to‑end full‑stack software development experience and an additional 5 years as a standard software developer, preferably on Microsoft platform technologies.
  • Track record of successfully working on ambitious and complex projects where problems and solutions are not well defined.
  • Operate autonomously and with minimal supervision, delivering high‑quality code and demonstrating work to stakeholders via Teams or in person.
  • Willingness to learn about paving, intelligent construction, logistics, materials, and geospatial technologies and apply this knowledge to software solutions.
  • Enthusiastic, enjoy writing challenging software, bring a fun sense of humor, and enjoy working with other team members who aim for success.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, front‑end and back‑end development, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintain moderate and increasing proficiency in supported software and related technologies.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre‑task planning; report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
  • Strong software development skills using C#.
  • Strong software development skills using JavaScript‑based languages, preferably Type Script.
  • Strong web development skills using a component‑based web platform, preferably Angular.
  • Above average knowledge of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP), enterprise software development, and relational database technologies, preferably SQL Server.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, token‑based security models, and HTTP concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Entity Framework and Language Integrated Query (LINQ).
  • Understanding of coding patterns and practices and their importance.
  • Understanding of tiered software architecture, exception handling, and logging.
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to commute to the Austin, TX office or successfully perform tasks as a remote worker living within the continental United States and having access to quality Internet Service.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and testing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Experience with Microsoft Dev Ops and Microsoft Azure Application Insights.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Comfortable working with large datasets/payloads.
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to design intuitive and user‑friendly interfaces.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data and coordinate systems.
  • Familiarity with automated testing in C# using industry standard libraries such as Auto Fixture, Moq, Auto Moq, etc.
  • Familiarity with front‑end testing of REST APIs using tools like Postman.
