We are looking for an experienced, talented Senior Technical Game Animator to join the team. The ideal candidate works at the intersection of animation, rigging, and technical implementation, serving as the vital link connecting animators, programmers, and designers.
Duties and Responsibilities- Architect, build, and refine gameplay animation systems using Unreal Engine 5 features such as Animation Blueprints, Motion Matching, State Machines, and Control Rig.
- Convert creative direction and technical objectives into clear animation system designs, well‑defined tasks, and achievable scopes.
- Work closely with design, animation, and engineering teams to ensure animation systems align with core mechanics and design goals.
- Implement and polish character animations to ensure responsiveness, smooth transitions, and a strong gameplay experience in real‑time scenarios.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve advanced animation issues to maintain stability, performance, and visual fidelity.
- Minimum of 5 years in an AA or AAA environment.
- Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 animation frameworks, including Blueprints, State Machines, Control Rig, and Sequencer.
- Strong understanding of gameplay dynamics, character locomotion, and player responsiveness.
- Proven ability to collaborate with game design to enhance gameplay feel and support feature iteration.
- Background in prototyping gameplay features, iterating on systems, and shaping animation‑driven mechanics.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities for addressing runtime animation issues.
- Outstanding communication skills and ease in cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
- Mel/Python for developing animation tools or automating workflows.
- Ability to work with motion capture data or produce keyframe animation in Maya.
- Understanding of performance optimization strategies for complex animation systems in Unreal Engine.
- Flexibility to choose onsite or remote work.
- Suitable for both VAT Number (or similar) holders and individuals who can open one.
- Fixed‑term contract, start as soon as possible.
