This will be a hybrid role so splitting your time between your home office and our Raleigh NC office. Candidates must already reside in that area to be considered, as we can not office any relocation packages at this time.
In this role, you will be the senior expert responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of Share File core databases. You’ll own and operate our Mongo
DB / Mongo
DB Atlas and Microsoft SQL Server environments, while also guiding the use of complementary technologies like Redis, Dynamo
DB, and Elasticsearch. You’ll keep our databases healthy and secure, troubleshoot complex production issues, and partner with engineering teams to design resilient data solutions.
- Act as the primary owner for Mongo
DB / Mongo
DB Atlas and Microsoft SQL Server environments - Administer databases: security, user management, configuration, backup and recovery
- Monitor database health, performance, and capacity, and take proactive action when needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including participation in an on‑call rotation
- Perform regular maintenance: patching, upgrades, index and statistics maintenance
- Optimize queries, indexes, and schemas to improve performance and reduce cost
- Support development teams with data modeling, query design, and performance best practices
- Contribute automation scripts and tooling for provisioning, monitoring, and routine operations
- Document standards, procedures, and runbooks for database operations
- 5+ years of professional database experience, including 3+ as a primary DBA/Database Engineer
- Strong expertise in Mongo
DB / Mongo
DB Atlas in production (design, operations, performance tuning) - Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (installation, configuration, HA/DR, performance tuning)
- Excellent SQL skills and experience with T‑SQL and PL/SQL or similar procedural extensions
- Proven experience running, maintaining, and monitoring mission‑critical production databases
- Strong troubleshooting skills across database, OS, and application layers
- Experience working with both Linux/Unix and Windows environments
- Clear written and verbal communication and a customer‑focused mindset
- Hands‑on experience with Redis, Dynamo
DB, MySQL and Elasticsearch - Programming or scripting in Python, Power Shell, Bash, C#, Go, Java, or Node.js
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Ansible, Terraform)
- Experience supporting agile development teams and CI/CD for database changes
Base Salary Range: $136,000 - $168,000
This position is also eligible to participate in our performance‑based annual corporate bonus plan. Final base compensation is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to job‑related skills, education, demonstrable experience, and allowance for future and continued salary growth.
