Basic Qualifications

• Experience leading teams responsible for the development of complex software-based elements or systems
• Experience with software planning and execution throughout the requirements, design, development, build, test, and integration phases of a program
• Effective communication with all levels of an organization
• Active Top Secret Clearance (DoD or SCI)

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineering Leader to support a portfolio of programs in the Remote Sensing Mission area. This critical leadership position will set and implement the strategic vision, partner with the Embedded Talent Center and Software Factory organizations, and lead multiple teams to deliver high‑quality flight software products that are essential for national security. The role also includes significant new business development responsibilities.

As a leader of first‑line leaders and individual contributors, responsibilities include staffing, performance management, recognition, talent development, retention, mentoring, and coaching.

Technical leadership responsibilities include establishing and maintaining flight software baselines, contributing to collaborative development of software/hardware architectures for flight embedded, high‑reliability, high‑speed data network management (SpVPX, SpW, SRIO, etc.), control processing, data fusion, and systems. Management of embedded flight and test software/firmware development efforts, implementing AI/ML capabilities in ground and flight applications, and integration support for next higher assembly level integrations are also key tasks.

• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Embedded software and flight processor experience
• Software New Business support including technical and cost volume inputs
• Demonstrated experience leading a technical team in any of the following disciplines:
  Embedded Flight Software (FSW), Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C), Data Exploitation and Sense making, Testbed & Simulation (Tb&S)
• Strong mentoring skills
• Experience with National Security Space missions and customers
