Software Engineering Manager (Virtual, Full-time)

This role is an opportunity to lead a high-performing team of software engineers at Wealth Counsel, LLC and work remotely from a home office. The Software Engineering Manager partners closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to deliver innovative, scalable, and high-quality software while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

• People Leadership – Mentor, coach, and develop a team of software engineers. Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training. Conduct effective 1‑on‑1 meetings and performance reviews. Communicate clearly with engineers and stakeholders.
• Project and Technical Execution – Align team priorities with organizational goals in collaboration with engineering and product leadership. Translate business goals into technical solutions and milestones. Participate in architectural reviews and guide technical decisions and best practices. Deliver high‑quality, maintainable code via Agile methodologies. Conduct code reviews, design discussions, and incident response. Remove blockers and troubleshoot complex issues. Build, test, and maintain code.
• Process and Continuous Improvement – Establish, document, and optimize team processes to improve delivery and quality. Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices. Support evaluation and integration of new technologies.
• Supervisory Responsibilities – Manage hiring, performance, and workflow allocation of direct reports. Address discipline or termination as required with HR support and in accordance with company policy.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (6+ years in the industry).
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineers.
• Proven experience as a software engineer with expertise in web development.
• Strong technical background with proficiency in modern frameworks.
• Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and RESTful API design.
• In‑depth experience building and deploying applications using AWS services.
• Exceptional problem‑solving skills, with the ability to tackle technical challenges.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross‑functional teams and presenting technical concepts.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, version control systems (e.g., Git), and code review processes.

• Experience with SQL and/or No

• Familiarity with UI/UX principles.
• Prior experience delivering web applications at scale.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and testing frameworks.
