The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $165,000 - $300,000. The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role. Individual compensation and level of position offered is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.
This is a full‑time remote position. Employees may work from anywhere within the contiguous 48 states of the United States. Travel is up to 20%. Employees will be required to occasionally travel to our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, TX for in‑person meetings. Travel expenses for business needs will be covered by BNSF.

Key Responsibilities- This is a full‑stack infrastructure engineering role, involving backend services, APIs, and developer‑facing services for our physical/digital infrastructure and platforms. A modern platform that brings together virtual machines, containers, storage, data services, networking, observability, and developer experience, all managed as software.
- Develop and operate cloud‑native systems and services using Git Ops workflows.
- Build and operate IaaS (compute, storage, and networking), PaaS (DBs, messages, API, and serverless), identity/access, observability/alerting/remediation, and developer services.
- Collaborate with internal application teams to improve platform usability and feedback.
- Help design and run systems that scale across our data centers, edge devices, and public cloud environments powering always‑on services.

- Authorized to work in the US.
- Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
- 6+ years of proficiency with modern programming languages used in infrastructure (e.g. Go, Python, and Java).
- 5+ years of experience with IaaS, PaaS, Service Mesh, block/object storage, and Linux.
- 3+ years experience with streaming data services and SQL/No
SQL/Graph DBs. - Proficiency with container‑based development.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Dev Ops practices.
- Interest in open‑source infrastructure and developer platforms.
- Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry).
- Experience with secure coding practices and infrastructure security principles.
