GEICO is seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to build high-performance, low-maintenance platforms and applications that optimize and resolve performance issues in our commercial insurance tech platforms.

As a Staff Engineer, you will lead across the organization to provide friction‑less experiences to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. You will work in a hyper‑growth environment, with priorities that shift quickly, and have broad technical knowledge from front‑end UIs through back‑end systems and beyond.

• Lead multiple areas and provide leadership to engineering teams.
• Own complete solutions across their entire life cycle.
• Influence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise‑class applications.
• Be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of solutions.
• Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
• Utilize programming languages such as Python, C# or other object‑oriented languages, SQL, No
  
  SQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services.
• Mentor more junior team members professionally to help them realize their full potential.
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

• Fluency and specialization in C# .Net and at least one additional modern object‑oriented language (Java, C++, Python).
• Experience building products using micro‑services architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• Experience building intuitive web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular).
• Experience designing architecture for new and current systems, including scalability and reliability.
• Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
• Fluency in Dev Ops concepts and cloud architecture.
• Experience leveraging Power Shell scripting.
• Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessment.
• Knowledge of security protocols (Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth).
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment.
• Ability to document and improve workflow and system topology using Microsoft Visio.
• Ability to use Azure Dev Ops (ADO) and document tasks and user stories.
• Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle.

• 6+ years of professional software development experience in C# .Net frameworks.
• 4+ years of experience building full‑stack applications using React or Angular JS with REST APIs.
• 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience with architecture and design.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
