About this roleRetail Media are responsible for significant revenue generation within the company, and we’re expanding our engineering teams to meet our commercial and technology targets.
As a .NET Software Engineer, you will contribute to our architecture and technical deliveries by writing highly scalable and testable code, supporting your peers, and helping improve ideas and approaches to deliver high-quality solutions.
We work closely with a large number of other teams, with inner-sourced development as our standard way of working. Ownership is one of our core engineering principles — we write it and we own it. Engineers are expected to take responsibility for their work, including being part of an on‑call rota to ensure the reliability of the systems we build.
Location:
Hybrid- 3 days a week from JETs Bristol office & 2 days working from home
Reporting to:
Technology Manager
- Play a key role in planning, designing and developing scalable solutions using .NET technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineers and teams, as well as with key stakeholders, to deliver high-quality user experiences.
- Participate in our on‑call rota, helping to maintain the reliability and operational excellence of the systems we build.
- Work independently on well‑defined problem areas, taking responsibility for delivering robust solutions within a workstream.
- Proficiency in C# with a strong understanding of the .NET ecosystem.
- A strong understanding of cloud service providers, preferably AWS, however experience with Azure or GCP is fine.
- Demonstrable experience of unit testing tools / frameworks (for example xUnit, NUnit, MSTest etc).
- Experience in building RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with No
SQL databases. - Ability to debug and troubleshoot complex systems.
- Experience writing highly scalable services in a microservices‑based architecture. Experience with message queues or distributed systems is a bonus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills (we’re advocates of inner‑sourced software development at JET).
