Senior Backend Software Engineer - Enterprise / Commerce (100% Remote)

About The Job. We are looking for a Sr backend software engineer to help build out a world-class travel portal for users as part of our Hopper Technology Solutions group (HTS). You will work as part of a cross-functional team of exceptional engineers, designers and product managers to bring new world-class travel portals, rapidly bringing new features to market with best-in-class support for our partners.

A successful candidate loves to build and demonstrates high ownership about outcomes, and constantly looks for and finds creative ways to deliver quality results quickly. They can distinguish between what has to be right from the start and what can be iterated on.

Tech Stack

• Our backend systems are written in Scala, and we use a suite of GCP services

• Our frontends are web apps using React + Type Script

What would your day-to-day look like:

• Design, build and operate API and full-stack solutions

• Operate autonomously but work closely with fellow engineers as well as designers/PMs to ensure high alignment

• Explore engineering improvements for the team and the product

• Collaborate cross-functionally with the product team, other Hopper teams and external partner teams

• Our group operates with very few meetings and emphasizes strong alignment and asynchronous decision making

An ideal candidate has:

• A natural drive to fearlessly deep dive into an unknown code base while keeping their eyes on the goal to deliver results fast

• Strong product thinking: their conception of quality is anchored in the customer

• Experience with, or a willingness to learn, distributed system development in Scala
