Remote Senior Software Engineer
In this remote position, Opala is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain a safe, reliable, and performant software platform. This role will play an essential part from solution planning, analysis and design through implementation and operations. You will be part of an Agile engineering team, designing and implementing our technology platform roadmap and features. You will work with other engineers and product owners to meet critical business and technology objectives.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement automated test solutions to ensure software quality, reliability, and performance.
• Partner across the organization and with developers to ensure solutions meet requirements and are testable from the start.
• Write both product and test code to deliver against project timelines and quality standards.
• Design software components (functionality, defect fixes, automated tests) as part of larger solutions.
• Define comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and automation scripts.
• Identify and troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.
• Create synthetic test data to validate functionality in lower environments.
• Contribute to product development as needed while maintaining a primary focus on testing and test automation.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, with strong expertise in test coverage and test automation using Python, C#, and .NET.
• 3+ years of experience with testing, both manual and automated.
• Experience with SQL and RDBMS.
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, CI/CD, and Agile processes.
• Experience with API testing frameworks (Postman, REST‑assured, or equivalent).
• Experience using and creating RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git Hub.
• Experience with cloud technologies, specifically Azure, including deployment, testing, and monitoring of cloud‑based applications.
• Experience mentoring and leading small projects.
Benefits
• The Seattle base salary range for this full‑time position is $163k‑$192k. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, EAP, short‑term and long‑term disability, 16 days PTO, 8 paid holidays, fully paid holiday closure, parental and family medical leave, 401k, stock options and annual bonuses and salary increases based on merit.
