VES, LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Test Automation Engineer to support the development and testing of a next-generation Army Command and Control system. The successful candidate will contribute to ensuring software reliability for the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System through both manual and automated testing. This position offers remote flexibility with periodic on-site responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform manual and automated testing of military-grade software systems.
- Review system, application, and software requirements for completeness and testability.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive software test plans and testing strategies.
- Conduct regression testing within iterative development cycles.
- Collaborate with developers and cross-functional team members to enhance testing processes.
- Utilize Git Lab and Dev Ops tools for task tracking, version control, and test management.
- Apply professional software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle.
- Support continuous improvement of test methodologies, frameworks, and supporting tools.
- Document and communicate defects, enhancements, and test results clearly and efficiently.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or similar.
- Strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Experience developing software test plans and strategy documentation.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Dev Ops workflows.
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git Lab.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating software performance and quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Python's pytest.
- Working knowledge of REST, SOAP, and related web service technologies.
- Familiarity with Army Mission Command Systems.
- Experience with SQL databases and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Neoload).
- Knowledge of test management tools (e.g., Test Link, Zephyr, Test Rail).
- Understanding of military standards such as 6017A, 6017C, MIL
2525C, or
C. - Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP) and military networks (e.g., WIN-T, BFT2).
- Experience with VMware/vSphere and Microsoft Windows Server administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant software testing experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
