Job SummaryQA Automation Engineer (Entry Level) responsible for creating detailed test plans, writing and maintaining automated tests in Python and Java, and collaborating closely with development teams to identify and resolve bugs.
Responsibilities- Design and execute automated tests to verify software functionality, security, and usability.
- Develop detailed test plans and test cases, and manage defect resolution with developers.
- Collaborate with development and Dev Ops teams through agile ceremonies, including daily stand‑ups and sprint planning.
- Maintain and enhance automation frameworks and pipelines, often in a CI/CD environment.
- Troubleshoot automation issues, develop SQL or Unix scripts for test data generation, and produce test summaries and defect reports.
- Integrate automated testing into feature development for functional, regression, and system testing.
- Use modern IDEs (Eclipse, Intelli
J) and tools (Jira, TestNG, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) to design, develop, and test software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 1 year of technical experience.
- Experience with Java and at least one test management tool such as TestNG, Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries and database interaction.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- Ability to develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites across backend, middleware, desktop, and microservice environments.
- Experience producing defect reports and managing defects in Jira.
- Experience with cloud‑based test automation (AWS or equivalent).
- Foundational knowledge of performance, load, and stress testing.
- Previous software development experience is a plus.
- Comfortable working in an agile development environment.
- XML experience and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong collaboration and initiative, with the ability to move from high‑level requirements to concrete deliverables.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
Hybrid arrangement: on‑site in Ashburn, VA, 2–3 days per week with optional remote work. Full‑time position with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits offered by SAIC.
