We are seeking three (3) Senior Software Engineers to support a healthcare client in designing and building scalable, cloud-based back-end services for data-centric clinical and analytic applications. This is a fully remote, contract role working with a highly collaborative engineering organization focused on improving patient outcomes through technology.
These applications leverage cloud computing, big data, mobile platforms, data science, data warehousing, and machine learning using modern software development frameworks and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and support back-end services and microservices for clinical and analytic applications
- Build scalable, resilient cloud-based solutions that handle increasing data volumes and traffic
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and clinical requirements into technical solutions
- Follow software engineering best practices across the full SDLC
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of experience, OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field and 7+ years of experience
- Strong experience developing applications or services using high-level programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Go)
- Solid understanding of modern application development frameworks
- Strong problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in Agile software development environments
- Java 17+ with Spring Boot and Angular 17+
- Design and development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and web services
- Experience across the full SDLC, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Experience working in hybrid environments (on-premises, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Dev Ops and CI/CD experience using Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, or Azure Pipelines
- Experience with relational and No
SQL databases, analytics platforms, or enterprise data pipelines - Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Experience building high-performance, highly available distributed systems
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Git Hub Copilot, Gemini, or Claude
- Experience in healthcare, clinical, laboratory, or bioinformatics-related applications
- Experience migrating applications to cloud platforms
- Strong knowledge of Python, BASH, and Linux/Unix scripting
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and pipelines (e.g., Illumina BCL Conversion, genomic aligners, variant callers such as GATK or Sentieon)
- Experience with Nextflow or similar pipeline orchestration tools
- Understanding of genomics or genetics software pipelines used in laboratory environments
- Strong system architecture, technical design, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to an Agile team
- Experience with clustered or distributed environments (e.g., Oracle Grid Engine)
- Familiarity with cloud CLI tools (awscli, gcloud, azurecli)
- Genomics domain expertise with exposure to clinical or research laboratory operations
