Online Software Engineer – EA SPORTS

Electronic Arts creates next-level entertainment experiences that inspire players and fans around the world. Join the UFC online engineering team to help build the world’s best fighting game’s connected experience.

Location

Burnaby, British Columbia (hybrid: 3 days a week onsite)

Responsibilities
  • Build online features that enable players to compete, connect, and stay engaged across platforms.
  • Collaborate with client, backend, and data teams to deliver live‑service features aligned with real UFC moments.
  • Design scalable, efficient, and resilient systems to support global live‑service demand and maintain stability during peak activity.
  • Partner with designers, engineers, production, and content creators to build authentic and engaging online experiences.
  • Iterate on features using live insights to keep the experience fresh and rewarding, including exploring AI tools to improve development efficiency.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer developing online games or scalable online applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and comfort working in large‑scale, real‑time codebases.
  • Experience with database technologies (SQL, No

    SQL).
  • Practical understanding of networked systems: client/server models, service integration, latency considerations, and multithreaded environments.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and break down complex problems into clean, maintainable solutions.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with online feature development on console platforms.
  • Experience or interest in using AI tools to accelerate development, testing, or operations workflows.
  • Familiarity with live‑service games or highly concurrent online systems.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay range (British Columbia, depending on location): $119,600 – $167,300 CAD.
  • Benefits: 3 weeks vacation, 10 days sick leave, paid EI/QPIP top‑up, 12 weeks maternity and 4 weeks parental/adoption leave, health/dental/vision coverage, life and disability insurance, retirement plan.
  • Bonus and equity may be available for certain roles.
