About The Team
The Growth Platform Engineering team builds the core systems and tools that drive user acquisition, engagement, and lifecycle growth at  Affirm . Our platform enables personalized communications, intelligent experimentation, and scalable services that help customers discover and adopt our products.

We collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Experience teams to design APIs, event‑driven services, and experimentation frameworks that reach millions of customers across thousands of merchants. This team’s work directly impacts how customers experience  Affirm  and fuels our long‑term growth.

What You’ll Do

You will own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open‑ended problems, and ensuring everyone is supported throughout delivery.

You will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade‑offs.

You will proactively identify and solve project, process, technology or business issues.

You will support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on‑call and "keep the lights on" efforts.

You will foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.

You will help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.

Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

Strong understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and service‑oriented architecture.

Experience defining a technical plan for delivery of significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible design; writing high‑quality code that is easily understood and used by others.

Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base, and developing a suite of tools and practices that enable safe changes.

Demonstrated ownership of career growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.

Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.

Equal to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Location – Remote Canada
Affirm focuses on a remote‑first culture and the majority of roles are remote. You can work from anywhere within Canada.

Pay Grade – N
Equity Grade – 6

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits. The base pay range is  $150,000 – $200,000  per year.
