Senior PHP Developer (Remote) Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer to lead the ongoing development and growth of a data‑driven product used by multiple clients. This role is hands‑on, strategic, and highly collaborative, reporting directly to senior technical leadership.

You will play a key role in shaping the product roadmap, improving performance and scalability, and mentoring a growing development team. This is a remote role suited to someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership end‑to‑end.

• Design and develop new product features in line with business requirements.
• Translate business specifications into technical solutions.
• Identify specification gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Define technical tasks, including database and component changes.
• Create clear technical documentation for major features.
• Analyse system performance and implement improvements.
• Troubleshoot, test, maintain, and optimise core application software.
• Perform bug fixes and resolve production issues.
• Research and recommend new technologies to improve system architecture.
• Participate in design reviews and technical decision‑making.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Ensure adherence to best practices and modern development standards.
• Conduct code reviews and guide other developers.
• Stay current with industry trends and share knowledge with the team.

• Create and manage data scripts and imports.
• Build and manage new data sources end‑to‑end.
• Develop and maintain data extracts.
• Optimise systems by cleaning up inefficient processes.
• Manage client data mapping, attributes, and configurations.
• Ensure data quality for analytics and reporting.

• Build front‑end and back‑end dashboards based on scoped requirements.
• Develop reporting templates and data hygiene dashboards.
• Implement search filters and reporting logic.
• Maintain and enhance existing dashboards and data flows.

• Support sprint planning and delivery.
• Assist with defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure deadlines are met.
• Lead quality assurance from a technical perspective.

• Mentor and support junior and intermediate developers.
• Assist with onboarding new team members.
• Encourage best practices, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• BSc in Computer Science or similar qualification.
• 8+ years’ experience developing PHP applications from scratch.
• 8+ years’ experience working with large databases.

• PHP

• Linux environments
• Scalable application development
