Join to apply for the Engineering Team Lead role at Nory

Nory is an all‑knowing restaurant management system that blends real‑time data with AI predictive analytics, giving operators control of their margins. By helping restaurants run with consistency, certainty, and profit, we enable thriving businesses, better jobs, less waste, and healthier margins.

The role

We’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Insights team. You’ll help build and scale the Insights layer—forecasting, planning, and decision‑support features used daily by hundreds of multi‑site restaurant operators. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll balance technical ownership, delivery, and people leadership to ship a reliable, high‑impact product.

You should be comfortable working across backend and frontend systems. We’re stack‑agnostic and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, Type Script, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, Mongo

DB, and Docker.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead delivery for one of Nory’s most business‑critical areas
: own the technical direction and delivery of our Insights Product, enabling operators to make smarter decisions on pricing, waste reduction, and customer experience.
  • Champion forecasting excellence
, continuously improving the accuracy and user experience of our predictive tools to build customer confidence and data transparency.
  • Drive the development of intelligent features that power operational planning, including innovative use of AI and machine learning to enhance automation, adaptability, and decision‑making at scale.
  • Partner closely with Product, Data, and Design to balance statistical accuracy, system complexity, and a simple, intuitive user experience.
  • Lead a small squad of engineers
: setting direction, reviewing code, unblocking delivery, and raising the engineering bar.
What you’ll bring
  • Hands‑on technical leadership
    :
Significant experience building and operating production systems, with deep strength in either backend or frontend and the ability to work effectively across the stack.
  • Product‑focused delivery experience
    :
Previous experience working in cross‑functional product squads (Engineering, Product, Design, Data), delivering high‑impact work with clear commercial or customer outcomes.
  • Strong product instincts
    :
You connect engineering work directly to customer and business outcomes, and you’re comfortable shaping scope alongside Product.
  • Systems thinking
    :
You’ve designed and evolved systems that stand up over time, making pragmatic trade‑offs between speed, quality, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Delivery ownership
    :
You take responsibility for your team’s focus, pace, and outcomes, removing blockers and keeping work moving.
  • People leadership
    :
You enjoy coaching engineers, giving clear feedback, and helping individuals grow while building a healthy, high‑performing team culture.
  • Clear communication
    :
You can explain complex technical ideas simply and work effectively with non‑engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have
  • Experience building B2B products used by a large number of customers, with high volumes of users, traffic, or data.
  • Experience working on analytics‑driven products, where reliability, performance, and trust are critical to customer adoption and retention.
What you’ll get in return
  • 🌍 Remote‑first working environment - you must have the right to work in the UK/EU without sponsorship to be considered for this role.
  • 💰 Competitive salary depending on experience.
  • 📈 Meaningful equity, at Nory everyone is an owner!
  • 🌴 35 days of paid leave per year (including bank holidays).
  • 🏥 Comprehensive private health insurance via Irish Life (Ireland) and Axa (UK).
  • 🍼 Enhanced parental leave and baby loss support.
  • 📚 Learning & development culture – €1000 personal annual budget + quarterly book budget.
  • 🖥️ €250 home office workspace budget.
  • 👩💻 Work from anywhere for up to 3 months of the year.
  • 👏 And much more.
How we work

Our vision is to build a better future for the restaurant industry. One where operators are in control, margins are stronger, and frontline teams can build careers they’re proud of. To get there, we…
