Software Engineer, Travel

Vessel is hiring Software Developers of all levels to join a small and capable team of builders working on a cloud-based fintech web app. Technology includes Type Script, Svelte Kit, Node, Nix, Docker, Terraform, and AWS.

• Write, test, and deploy Type Script code in Svelte Kit and Node environments.
• Design and build features such as identity verification, website builders, scheduled payment collection, and electronic document signing.
• Collaborate with the CTO, product designer, and other developers to outline technical decisions and architecture.
• Maintain automated testing coverage and continuous deployment pipelines to AWS.
• Use managed relational databases and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive customer data.
• Respond to on‑call incidents and resolve production issues promptly.
• Balance customer trust with efficient code, avoiding performance regressions.
• Contribute to the team’s lightweight Agile process inspired by Shape Up and Mythical Man Month.

• Proficiency in Type Script, Svelte Kit, Node.js, and relational database design (SQL).
• Experience with Unix command‑line tools and a portable toolchain.
• Comfortable writing automated tests and setting up CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply best security practices.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to write design decisions and critiques.
• Preferred background in back‑end or full‑stack development; recent graduates acceptable.
