Principal Associate Software Engineer – International Card Tech – Full‑Stack at Capital One Canada (Toronto, Ontario)

Capital One Canada’s software studio was founded in 2014 and now employs over 250 engineers.

• Work on a variety of projects focusing on backend development, infrastructure, tooling, platform engineering, developer experience, and data engineering.
• Create new applications using object‑oriented programming methodologies.
• Apply test‑driven development from inception to production.
• Explore and evaluate new and emerging software tools, technologies, and practices.
• Share a passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal and external technology communities, including mentoring colleagues.
• Support the professionalization of engineering practice through effective communication and advocacy in public speaking, presentations, and documentation.
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.
• Identify gaps and solve problems to completion.

• At least 4 years of hands‑on experience in application development using JavaScript, Java, Type Script, SQL, Python, or Go.

• At least 6 years of experience in JavaScript, Java, Type Script, SQL, Python, or Go.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with test‑driven development.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience with AWS and/or AWS Certification (Solution Architect‑Associate preferred).
• Experience in distributed systems, APIs, microservices, data processing, relational, No
  
  SQL or time‑series databases, streaming or messaging platforms, Dev Ops, resilience, and stability.
• Experience at Capital One.

• Hybrid work environment: 3 days in office, Work From Home allowance.

• Expected annual salary range: $134,400 to $153,300.
• Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation.
