Position: Software Engineer (Command and Control

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly capable and adaptable Software Engineer to join our team at our Bristol facility to develop solutions for the next of Air Defence Systems!

Salary: up to circa £65,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working:
This particular role is mostly office based (due to workload classification), but there are opportunities to work from home.

Security Clearance:
British or a Dual UK with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity

This is a very hands‑on role and requires the continued design and development of Command and Control architectures and the instantiations for future products. Perfect for a Software Engineer who is proactive and takes the initiative!

You will be working with people and technologies at the forefront of European missile systems design, supporting the development of safe, secure and reliable products that our customers can rely on.

Responsibilities

Design and develop Command and Control architectures and future product instantiations.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams during all stages of software development from requirement engagement to automated target integration and proving.

Maintain momentum during development and document effectively.

Utilize real‑time multi‑threaded application knowledge, and apply restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++.

Qualifications
  • Strong background in software engineering, its realization and system wide impact.
  • Experience working in C++.
  • Experience with software architecture models.
  • Collaborative, open approach to development and ability to work well in a team.
  • Experience across the entire software development cycle.
  • Experience with new tools, techniques and approaches that improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Experience in Ada.
  • Knowledge of standards such as Def Stan 00-55, DO‑178C, IEC
    61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++.
