Ascenda's Loyalty applications power the processing logic of converting transactions to points and store the points ledger. We handle high burst loads, with the largest daily volume exceeding 1 million transactions, and run campaigns to encourage wider loyalty participation. This year we are expanding our loyalty suite to more financial instruments.
AboutThe Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer II who will work closely with the team to deliver the largest, most scalable set of loyalty programs for our clients worldwide. You will build the next generation of our loyalty platform—points accrual and campaigns—by developing and scaling core loyalty services. Your work will enable new businesses to run on our platform at greater scale while maintaining a high bar for reliability, usability, and operations.
You will collaborate with team members, mentor others, and drive engineering excellence.
- Participate and drive technical projects and client deliveries that help scale Ascenda’s offerings.
- Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Design and implement elegant APIs and infrastructure, serving as a role model for software design and scalable systems architecture.
- Own problems end to end, manage complexity, and engage directly with other teams to consider business impact, reliability, operability, integration ease, and API expressiveness.
- Bring consistency to codebases and operations processes.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers on technical skill sharing and domain exposure, becoming a next‑generation subject matter expert.
- Strong technical background with experience building large‑scale, high‑throughput distributed systems on the Cloud.
- Strong foundation in systems architecture, infrastructure, networking, and databases, with a focus on optimization, reliability, and performance.
- Fluent in Ruby (or a strong aptitude for quickly becoming proficient).
- Experience writing technical roadmaps and RFCs to communicate strategy and resolve architectural problems.
- Excellent collaborator, comfortable working across product, design, business, operations, customer service, and external stakeholders.
- At least 5 years of development experience.
- Passionate about mentoring and leading a group of engineers for high performance.
- Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, with intuition for lasting scalability.
