Backend Software Engineer

Position: Backend Software Engineer - Hybrid Role
Location: Southwestern Ontario

Join Manulife as a Backend Software Engineer in a hybrid setup located in Waterloo, Ontario. Get involved in developing secure, reliable cloud services tailored for modern applications.

This role involves designing, building, and maintaining backend systems while collaborating with various stakeholders. You'll integrate RESTful APIs and modernize legacy applications through innovative microservices architecture. Your focus will be on deploying and supporting solutions using CI/CD pipelines, contributing to both operational excellence and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain cloud-based backend infrastructure

• Create and integrate RESTful APIs for internal and external systems

• Modernize legacy applications into modern microservices

• Monitor and support production services using CI/CD processes

• Engage in code reviews and performance improvements

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of backend development experience

• Hands-on skills in Java and Azure

• Experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD deployment tools

• Knowledge of SQL and NodeJS is a plus

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve incidents
